It is easy to recognize that 2020 was a harsh year in a plethora of ways raising several challenges in the scientific community. Nevertheless, that seemed to become a catalyst for the advancement of cork oak research.

During this year, we officially launched CorkOakDB (http://bit.ly/37xD8Sj), releasing a series of interviews and tutorials on our Youtube channel (http://bit.ly/3jNMOwR). Besides, the CorkOakDB developing team invested in the addition and integration of new transcriptomic datasets and curated functional information from specific genes which has contributed to its ultimate goal of becoming the reference hub for scientific research on cork oak.

This effort was rewarded with the publication of the article “CorkOakDB - The Cork Oak Genome Database Portal” in the DATABASE journal (https://bit.ly/3u0lm3t) representing a major step in getting the importance of this resource recognized.

Congratulations to everyone involved!
